About Saltwater Kitchen

Saltwater Kitchen opened in 2016 in a converted boathouse above the Hermanus cliff path. Chef Andile Mthembu trained in Cape Town kitchens and came home to the coast to cook the fish he grew up eating.

The menu changes with the boats. When the line fish is not good, it is not on the menu, and the chalkboard tells you what came in that morning.

The deck

In whale season the deck is the best seat in town. It is first come, first served at lunch and bookable for dinner.

Functions

We close the deck for private lunches and dinners of twenty to forty guests, with a set menu agreed a week ahead.
